SCADA Commissioning Lead – Solar Power Plant

Reporting To

Commissioning Manager / Project Manager

Project Site (Utility Scale Solar PV Plant)

Position Summary

The SCADA Commissioning Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and

managing all SCADA, communication, and monitoring system commissioning activities for

utility-scale solar power plant projects. The role ensures successful integration of SCADA

systems with plant equipment including inverters, weather stations, energy meters, protection

relays, RTUs, PPC, BESS, substation automation systems, and utility/grid operator interfaces.

The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with project specifications, grid code

requirements, cybersecurity standards, and successful handover of the SCADA system to the

owner and operations team.

Key Responsibilities

SCADA Commissioning Management

∙Lead end-to-end commissioning of the Solar Plant SCADA system.

∙Prepare commissioning procedures, method statements, test protocols, and

commissioning schedules.

∙Coordinate with EPC teams, OEMs, subcontractors, and utility representatives.

∙Develop commissioning plans and ensure execution within project timelines.

∙Participate in FAT/SAT activities.

∙Lead Site Acceptance Testing and Integrated System Testing.

∙Ensure all punch points are closed before handover.

∙Ensure remote monitoring and control requirements are met.

∙Documentation and maintain commissioning logs and issue trackers.

Required Qualifications

∙Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering

Experience

∙5-10 years of experience in SCADA, automation, or power system commissioning.

∙Minimum 5 years in utility-scale Solar PV projects.

∙Experience commissioning plants ranging from 500 MW to 1500 MW+ preferred.

∙Experience with substations up to 132kV / 220kV / 400kV preferred.

Required Technical Skills

∙Experience with Siemens SICAM, Siemens WinCC, Schineider EcoStructure, GE

SCADA, ABB MicroSCADA, Emerson, Mitsubishi SCADA, Wonderware, Andritz.

∙Protocols with IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU,

DNP3, OPC UA.

∙Cybersecurity & Network Validation.
