Cashier Responsibilities
Processing Payments:
Accurately handle cash, credit, and debit transactions.
Use the Point of Sale (POS) system to calculate orders, manage receipts, and process payments.
Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts, ensuring accurate totals.
Customer Service:
Greet customers warmly and answer any initial questions about the menu or services.
Handle customer inquiries, concerns, or complaints professionally and promptly.
Maintain a positive, friendly demeanor at all times, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Order Management:
Double-check orders before payment to ensure accuracy.
Inform customers about any promotions, special deals, or new items.
Manage receipts and ensure they are given to the appropriate customer.
Maintaining the Cashier Area:
Keep the cashier counter clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
Manage register supplies such as receipt paper, coins, or cash.
Reporting and Documentation:
Generate daily or shift-based financial reports as required.
Report any issues with transactions, equipment, or discrepancies immediately to management.
Additional Duties:
Assist with packaging and delivering food items if the restaurant is busy.
Support with light cleaning tasks as needed, such as wiping counters or tables.
Taking Orders Over the Phone Responsibilities
Order Accuracy:
Listen attentively to customers placing orders and confirm each detail.
Repeat orders back to customers to ensure accuracy, including items, quantities, and any special requests.
Clearly communicate expected wait times for pick-up or delivery orders.
Handling Payment Details:
If taking payments over the phone, ensure payment details are entered securely and correctly.
Inform customers about available payment methods and any pre-payment requirements.
Menu Knowledge:
Be knowledgeable about the menu, including prices, ingredients, and preparation times.
Provide recommendations if customers are undecided or ask for popular items.
Inform customers of any items that may be unavailable or if there are any special promotions.
Customer Service Skills:
Greet customers over the phone with a friendly, professional tone.
Answer any inquiries customers may have regarding the restaurant, including hours and delivery areas.
Address any customer concerns and communicate with kitchen staff if modifications are needed.
Order Documentation:
Enter phone orders accurately into the POS or order management system.
Ensure orders are printed correctly for the kitchen staff to prepare.
Record special requests or customer contact details as needed for follow-up.
Team Communication:
Relay special requests or urgent orders to the kitchen staff promptly.
Coordinate with the delivery or packaging staff to ensure orders are completed on time.
Additional Duties:
Help with light in-store tasks between calls, such as preparing takeout bags or packaging condiments.
Update the team on any high-priority or large orders to manage workflow effectively.
