Position Title: MEP Ducting Supervisor

Job Summary:

The MEP Ducting Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all HVAC ducting installation activities at project sites. The role ensures that ductwork fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning are executed according to approved shop drawings, project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules. The supervisor manages ducting technicians, fitters, and subcontractors while coordinating with other MEP and civil disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Supervision

2. Supervise HVAC duct installation, fabrication, insulation, and related site activities.

3. Ensure all ducting works are carried out as per approved shop drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

4. Monitor daily work progress and ensure completion within scheduled timelines.

5. Coordinate manpower allocation and work assignments for duct fitters and helpers.

6. Inspect installed ductwork for quality, alignment, support spacing, and workmanship.

Coordination:

1. Coordinate with Mechanical Engineers, MEP Coordinators, Civil Engineers, and other trades to avoid clashes and delays.

2. Attend site coordination meetings and communicate project requirements to the workforce.

3. Coordinate material delivery and ensure availability of required tools and equipment.

Quality Control:

1. Verify installations comply with approved drawings, standards, project specifications, and client requirements.

2. Conduct inspections and rectify non-conforming work.

3. Support testing, balancing, and commissioning activities.

4.Ensure proper documentation of inspections and completed works.

Health & Safety:

1. Enforce HSE policies and safe work practices on site.

2. Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.

3. Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with permit-to-work requirements.

4. Report and investigate safety incidents and near misses.

Reporting:

1. Prepare daily progress reports and manpower reports.

2. Monitor productivity and material consumption.

3. Report technical issues, delays, and site challenges to management.

4. Maintain records of completed work, inspections, and material usage.

Qualifications:

1. Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or related field.

2. Minimum 5–10 years of experience in HVAC ducting installation and supervision.

3. Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.

4. Knowledge of HVAC systems, duct fabrication, installation methods, and testing procedures.

Skills & Competencies:

1. Ability to read and interpret HVAC shop drawings and coordination drawings.

2. Strong leadership and manpower management skills.

3. Knowledge of relevant building codes.

4. Excellent communication and coordination skills.

5. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

6. Proficiency in preparing reports and site documentation.

Working Conditions:

1. Site-based role requiring regular field supervision.

2. May require overtime, weekend work, and coordination with multiple contractors to meet project deadlines.

Authority:

1. Direct supervision of duct fitters, insulators, helpers, and subcontractor personnel.

2. Authority to stop unsafe work and recommend corrective actions for quality and safety issues.
