Qualified Welding Engineer

Job Summary:

Qualified Welding Engineer with solid experience in managing and optimizing welding activities for oil & gas, construction, and structural projects. Skilled in developing welding procedures, ensuring compliance with international standards, and supporting fabrication and site operations. Experienced in structural works including piles and conductors, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and productivity in line with Saudi Aramco standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).

Ensure all welding activities comply with applicable codes (ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, API standards) and project specifications.

Provide technical support to fabrication and construction teams on welding processes and issues.

Supervise and monitor welding activities to ensure adherence to approved procedures.

Evaluate and qualify welders through WPQT (Welder Performance Qualification Test).

Analyze weld defects and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Coordinate with QA/QC, NDT, and inspection teams to ensure quality compliance.

Review material selection, consumables, and welding parameters for suitability.

Estimate the Quantity of Welding Consumables that will be required for the projects and assist procurement process.

Support preheating, PWHT, and heat input control requirements.

Participate in project meetings, audits, and client inspections (including Aramco representatives).

Prepare technical reports, welding summaries, and documentation for project records.

Take ownership of complete welding activities in the yard.

Optimize welding productivity while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or equivalent is preferred

Minimum 5–8 years of experience in welding engineering within oil & gas or construction projects

Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW, GMAW)

In-depth understanding of international codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API)

Familiarity with Saudi Aramco standards and project requirements.
