T&C Engineer

Scope of Work :

To work as a T&C Engineer to ensure the safe operation and supervision of the

Substations and various renewable Power Plants from the T&C Control Room from postenergization until the final project handover period.

The T&C Control Engineer shall be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient

operations of microgrid and associated substations from the T&C Control Room.

1.Job Responsibilities:

• Directing and/or executing switching operations through Switching Engineers in

accordance with the approved Switching Program.

• Supervising and monitoring all connected substations from the T&C Control

Room.

• Operating and maintaining the 380 kV and 33 kV microgrid in compliance with SEC

Grid Code and applicable standards.

• Controlling system load flow and maintaining tie-line power exchange between

the microgrid and SEC substations.

• Maintaining system voltage and frequency within permissible limits.

• Releasing and restoring circuits as per operational and maintenance

requirements.

• Ensuring continuous monitoring, alarm management, and data recording for all

energized substations on a 24/7 basis.

• Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure reliable and uninterrupted system

operation.

System Operation & Control

• Ensure safe, secure, and reliable operation of the electricity generation,

transmission, and distribution network.

• Execute and supervise switching operations strictly as per approved procedures

and switching programs.

• Enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW) and LOTO safety protocols at all times.

Sensitivity: LNT Construction Internal Use

• Prevent unsafe switching and ensure operational discipline, respond immediately

to Line trips, Generation outages, Transformer, busbar, and line faults

• Perform fault isolation and system restoration.

• Coordinate with Protection Engineers, Field Operators, and SEC Load Dispatch

Center.

• Coordinate with Power plants (PV, Wind, BESS, etc.), SEC Control Centres,

Transmission operators to ensure compliance with dispatch instructions such as

Load increase/decrease, Reactive power control, Voltage regulation.

• Maintain system frequency (e.g., 60 Hz) and voltage profile within limits.

• Monitor and control load flow to ensure grid balance.

• Take corrective actions like manual load shedding (if required), Switching of

reactive compensation devices (e.g., STATCOM)

• Prevent grid disturbances, cascading failures, and blackouts.

• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out under valid PTW.

• Verify Proper isolation of equipment, earthing application, absence of back-feed

risks

• Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures.

• Maintain Shift logbooks, Event and trip records, Switching logs

• Record all alarms, events, and corrective actions taken.

• Prepare and submit daily alarm reports (including pending alarms at 12:00 AM),

Fault reports, Operational and performance reports

• Share reports with management and relevant stakeholders.

• Participate in system restoration during grid collapse/blackout conditions.

• Support sequential energization of transmission lines and renewable generation

sources.

• Identify and report abnormalities observed through T&C.

2. Qualification & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering from a

reputed university.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in power system operations within a utility

or large infrastructure project.

Sensitivity: LNT Construction Internal Use

• At least 3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in T&C / SCADA-based

control systems.

• Strong knowledge of international standards and SEC standards, codes, and

practices.

• Proven experience in:

1. T&C Control Room operations

2. Switching procedures and safety protocols

3. Commissioning of MV / HV / EHV equipment

• Good understanding of power system safety rules, including LOTO and permit

systems.

• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.

• Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.

• Willingness to work in shift duties (2 or 3 shifts).

• SAP (Senior Authorized Person) certification from SEC or other utilities is

preferred.

• Must successfully pass the technical interview and assessment.
